This type of dancing comes in various forms:
Standard ballroom
consists of five dances: Modern Waltz, Quickstep, Viennese waltz,
Foxtrot and Tango.
Standard Ballroom Dances have evolved over several hundred years from dancing in
the royal courts of Europe, and still to this day have a regal upright
deportment. These dances progress around the room in an anticlockwise direction.
Latin Ballroom
Dances generally have sinuous hip movements that are synchronised with
the half beats between the steps.
Indeed, the dances are generally
non-progressive, and the whole emphasis is on the hip movements rather
on the steps themselves.
The syncopated action takes some practice to
accomplish, and is a considerable challenge for people. Needless to say, it is very good exercise for
the lower back and tummy muscles

These dances are danced in couples, and most often in closed position, especially in the standard.
Our dance classes
will develop your skills of dancing in both open and close hold, and will help you
get rid of your two left feet syndrome, coordinate and synchronize your moves
with your partner’s.
Ballroom Dancing is not only for competitions.
Social dancing has become widely spread in Australia: there are many
studios, clubs and civic centers in Sydney organizing social nights
every day of the week.
We have organized the dances in 10 week terms. Please refer to our
timetable in
Classes/Courses.
